Task 20: Pass the SuNliving Implementation Manual Forward
Deliver municipal design committee workshop
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce the SuNliving Implementation Manual in greater detail to the municipal sustainable neighbourhood review committee. Facilitated by the sustainability coordinator, participants step through the development and building approval process to establish a method for applying the manual. The make-up of the committee is confirmed and next steps are determined to address any outstanding issues.

Deliver project implementation team workshop
The sustainability coordinator guides workshop participants through the application of the SuNliving Implementation Manual. A representative from the municipality is in attendance to present the sustainable neighbourhood review and approval process established by the municipal design review committee, and to address any questions.

Deliver integrated design team workshop
Collaborative engagement is transferred to the integrated design teams tasked with the detailed design and engineering. To a large degree, responsibility for achieving the project’s sustainable neighbourhood mission, vision and goals falls to these teams. Ideally, all or many of the design team members served with the charrette team. This workshop is intended to solidify their understanding of the SuNliving Implementation Manual and to secure their commitment to applying it to more detailed design and construction.

Deliver internal workshops as required
The challenge faced by both the project implementation team and the municipal sustainable neighbourhood design committee will be to expand the culture of thinking and capacity for sustainable neighbourhood development within their respective organizations. It is recommended that these teams integrate sustainable neighbourhood development workshops, meetings and seminars into their internal training programs to ensure their personnel are knowledgeable and are on board.
